Treatment for women with ADHD may include a multitude of approaches.

Psychotherapy is helpful for processing feelings, self esteem, and interpersonal relationship issues, as well as developing coping strategies to use on a daily basis to make days more structured, productive, and joyful.

Addressing family issues, parent training, healthy habits, career guidance, problem solving, and life management skills may all be helpful.

Medication treatment may provide effective relief of symptoms.

ADHD coaching, a new profession which provides support, structure, organization, and focus to individuals with ADHD, may be beneficial.

Psychotherapy groups specifically for women with ADHD can address the social, self esteem, guilt, self blame, and shameful feelings many women experience. A group can also help an individual feel understood and accepted. It can provided a powerful support system.

Getting educated about ADHD is important. Sharing this information with family, loved ones, coworkers, and friends can go a long way in helping a woman with ADHD find happiness.
